Gov. Ikpeazu Insists He Remains Abia State Governor, Faults INEC's Issuance Of Certificate Of Return To Uche Ogah

The INEC today issued a certificate of return to a member of PDP, Uche Ogah, following an order by the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday June 27th, mandating the electoral body to immediately issue Certificate of Return to Ogah who came second at the PDP primaries in the state in 2014. The state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has released a statement reacting to the development, Ikpeazu said  he remains the Governor of the state since he has filed an appeal against the ruling. Below is the statement he issued to that effect;.
I have received with concern, report of the purported issuance of Certificate of Return to Mr. Uche Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as governor of Abia State, despite dependency of a notice of appeal and motion for stay of the orders made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Nigeria’s Sovereignty Is Negotiable - Prof Wole Soyinka

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has lent his voice to the growing calls for the restructuring of the Nigerian federation, saying the sovereignty of the nation is negotiable. Speaking during a visit to PUNCH Place, the corporate headquarters of PUNCH Nigeria Limited, Kilometre 14, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, on Tuesday, Soyinka said decentralisation of the nation would ensure healthy rivalry among the component units.

Rivers State Government Cautions EFCC On Attempts To Look Into Its Books!

The government of Rivers state has declared in a letter that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) does not have the constitutional powers to look into its books, according to a report by Vanguard. The government, through Mr Emmanuel Aguma, the state commissioner for justice and attorney-general, also said it was not true that a staff withdrew N11 billion from the state account domiciled in the CBN as alleged.
The letter to the EFCC read as follows; “I write as the chief law officer of Rivers state and at the instruction of the governor of Rivers state, Mr Nyesom Wike, and the government of Rivers state. My instruction and direction is to state as follows: “The totality of the allegations made in the said publication is untrue and unfounded. According to the video you are about to watch below, estranged wife of a Kenyan Airports Authority (KAA) employee and her relatives have been arrested over a plot to assassinate him. Buburu Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Jeremiah Ikiao on Thursday, June 23, said Bilha Njoki had hired hitmen to kill her husband but police got wind of the plot and laid a trap to catch her.
Detectives, a day earlier had tricked her that he had been killed and his body dumped in Dandora. After she received the ‘good news’, she sent her brother and a friend to the ‘crime scene’ to confirm if it was indeed true.

Abiodun Agbele an aide to Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose was today arrested by the EFCC over allegations of helping the governor to launder part of the N4.7 billion he received from the Office of the former National Security Officer, Sambo Dasuki in June 2014.

Following the judgement delivered today by Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordering Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, to vacate his office immediately, after finding him guilty of submitting fake tax clearance document to the PDP during the party's governorship primary in December 2014, the gov said he is going to appeal the judgement and called on Abians not to panic, but "remain calm"
