Ministerial Screening: Buhari May Be Summoned To The Senate As Petroleum Minister

Vanguard reports that there may be a rowdy session at the upper chamber tomorrow when the list of the ministerial nominees of the president will be read out. This is because some senators have reportedly insisted that the president must submit himself for screening with other nominees in line with the constitution.

There  are also indications that the senators will reject an incomplete list, saying the names of the nominees must be 36, adding that the  constitution provides for a nominee from each state of the federation.

The senators have also vowed  to adopt stringent measures in line with the provisions of the constitution during the screening of the ministerial nominees. They also added that the tradition of ‘bow-and-go’ will be jettisoned for former senators who will take part in the screening process, adding that they were ready to send some nominees back.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is strongly against the nomination of Adebayo Shittu as minister from the state. Recall that a list surfaced online with some names which are supposedly Buhari's nominees. Among the names was Shittu, who was said to have been nominated as minister from the state.

In a related development, some APC chieftains whose names are reportedly on the ministerial have started lobbing senators so they can successfully scale the screening process billed for Wednesday, October 7.
Some others are said to have gone spiritual, embarking on intensive prayer sessions to come out unscathed aster the exercise.
