Nigerian Supreme Court Defiles The Ruling Party's Pressure, Dismissed Timipre Sylva's Petition Against Gov. Dickson

The Nigerian Supreme Court has dismissed the election petition against Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson by the All Progressives Congress, APC, challenger, Timipre Sylva. The court made it's ruling known a few hours ago, today Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

You would recall we brought you info here yesterday, attempts made by the ruling APC to influence the court's decision being awaited today, 8th November 2016.

Reacting to the ruling, the governor described it as well deserved. According to him, the victory is a further confirmation of his overwhelming triumph at the polls.

Speaking further, governor Dickson commended the Judiciary for rising up to the occasion by standing firm and reaffirming the earlier decisions of the tribunal and the Appeal Court, which had also dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva contesting his victory.

Governor Dickson used the occasion to express his gratitude to the people of the State for their unwavering support before, during and after the last governorship election in the state.

While thanking God for his victory at the apex court, he restated his commitment to developing the state to the best of his abilities, stressing that, despite the economic downturn, his administration will not renege on its agenda of restoration consolidation.

“This is a total victory and it is for the entire people of Bayelsa State and a victory for our the nation’s democracy” he noted.
