EU TO LOOK AT TIES WITH EGYPT AGAIN!

BRUSSELS—The European Union will "urgently review" its ties with Egypt in the coming days in light of the violent crackdown on protesters, the bloc's two top officials said in a statement Sunday.
European Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Herman Van Rompuy, who heads the European Council of member states, said "further escalation must be avoided" in Egypt, warning it "could have unpredictable consequences for Egypt and for its broader neighborhood."
Senior officials from the EU's 28 member states meet Monday morning and an emergency meeting of foreign ministers may follow in the coming days, the EU has said.
Among the topics likely to be debated is whether to cut off aid to the interim authorities in Egypt, according to EU diplomats.
"In cooperation with its international and regional partners, the EU will remain firmly engaged in efforts to promote an end to violence, resumption of political dialogue and return to a democratic process," the officials said.
"To this effect, together with its member states, the EU will urgently review in the coming days its relations with Egypt and adopt measures aimed at pursuing these goals."
The leaders placed primary responsibility for the violence on Egypt's interim authorities and the army. They said calls for democracy and freedom "cannot be disregarded, much less washed away in blood."
