PDP TO SANCTION ANDY UBA AND CO.!

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) is set to sanction some aspirants who participated in the Anambra State governorship primary conducted by the Ejike Oguebego-led faction in Awka last weekend.
Those who participated in the election as against the Prince Ken Emeakayi faction have been summoned to appear before the NWC for a preliminary hearing at the national secretariat in Abuja today.
Those listed to appear are Senator Andy Uba, Chief Chris Ubah,Ejike  Oguebego, Chief Benji Udeozor and Mrs. Tonia Nwankwu.
Incidentally, Oguebego leadership was the one recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Tony Nwoye had emerged the party candidate at the primary conducted by Ken Emeakayi and Governor Ibrahim Shema electoral committee, while Andy Uba was declared winner at the election conducted by Oguebego faction.
While restating its stance that Nwoye was the official candidate of the party for the Anambra governorship election, the NWC, in a statement yesterday called on the Inspector General of Police “ to commence investigations into the illegal procurement of sensitive party materials for the illegal governorship primary by persons who paraded themselves as working for the PDP”.
The statement signed by the Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tony Okeke, reads in part: “The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hereby condemns in the strongest possible terms the organization of a parallel primary to elect a candidate for the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State other than the one conducted by the party on August 24, 2013.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the only governorship primary recognized by the party was the election conducted by the electoral panel under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema which was appointed by the party.”
