Duelling Kenyan lovers Sylvester Mwendwa and Elijah Kimani settled their differences after finding out they had both unknowingly been seeing the same woman for more than four years, the Daily Nation newspaper reported.
Rather than one of them leaving, or both departing altogether, they agreed to a rota system where they would get to see the woman on different days. They will also have to live in the unnamed widowed woman’s house in Mombasa County and act as fathers to her two current children, and any others she gives birth to.
We have agreed that from today we will not threaten or have jealous feelings because of our wife, who says she’s not ready to let go of any of us,’ the agreement said, according to Kenya’s NTV. 'Each one will respect the day set aside for him. We agree to love each other and live peacefully. No-one has forced us to make this agreement.’
Marrying more than one man is not a crime in the east African country so long as you can prove polyandry is part of your customs.
