ABUBAKAR, NIGERIA’S POLICE CHIEF REMARRIES.
Nigeria’s foremost police chief, Mohammed Abubakar, 53, has remarried in Abuja, 19 months after he lost his first wife, Maryam. His new bride is 35 year old Zarah Bunu, daughter of a former Nigerian minister, Bunu Sheriff Musa. The society wedding was witnessed by many important dignitaries.
Among the witnesses were Vice-President Namadi Sambo, Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, multi-billionaire industrialist, Aliko Dangote, and state governors.
The wedding (fatiha) which took place at the National Mosque, Abuja was conducted by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Ustaz Mohammed.
Mohammed prayed for the success of the marriage, which held about a year after Abubakar lost his wife, Maryam. She died in January, 2012 shortly after Abubakar was appointed as acting IG.
Also at the wedding were two former Heads of State, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, and Ibrahim Babangida, Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed and members of the National Assembly.
Zarah, Abubakar’s wife was educated at the Cobham Hall School, in Kent, United Kingdom. She had her university education at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. She has worked at Impresit Bakalori; CVL; Sahara Group; and is currently employed at the External Relations Department of Afren, an independent oil and gas company.
