'BLACK MAGIC' COCONUT DETAINED BY POLICE OUTSIDE POLLING STATION.
Police have taken a coconut suspected of ‘black magic’ into custody after it was found at a polling station.
The fruit was detained by authorities at a school in Guraidhoo island, in the Maldives, after locals notified them of the suspicious tropical food.
The residents had thought the coconut was cursed and there were also allegations it was done to influence the presidential election.
‘The four-inch coconut had writing in Arabic and was lying on the ground near the school, easy for the public to see,’ a source told Maldives Minivan News.
‘When school students saw the coconut they called the principal, who then contacted the police.
‘Now the police and school officials are more aware and police are patrolling the school at night, so magicians can’t practice real black magic at the school.’
The authorities eventually brought in a ‘white magician’ to drive the evil out of the fruit but the conjurer determined the coconut was not really possessed by darkness.
The source continued: ‘It seems like it was a joke, just a prank, so that people will become aware, learn the moral, and not do it again.’
