Becks, 38, is two decades younger than the wife of former PM Tony Blair. But he made the shock confession to his England team-mates several years ago, says ex-Liverpool star Danny Murphy.

Murphy, 36, now a presenter on talkSPORT, was asked on air about his weirdest crush and he said actress Dame Helen Mirren, 68. He added: “Many, many years ago in a treatment room with England, we were talking about this.

“And David Beckham, I remember it well, guess who he said? Cherie Blair!”

Cherie, 59, and Becks were famously pictured together in Singapore joking on the eve of London winning the bid for the 2012 Olympic Games in 2005. And the ex-England skipper was a regular visitorto Downing Street to meet the Blairs.
