MAN KIDNAPS HIMSELF, DEMANDS N2MILLION FROM HIS FAMILY MEMBER.

The anti kidnapping squad of the Enugu State police command has arrested a middle aged man in Enugu, who kidnapped himself and demanded a N2 million ransom from his two younger brothers.
The man who gave his name as Samuel Ani, a coffin dealer who hails from Ugwuaji Awku­nanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area, hid himself in a bush behind his shop situated at Gariki Awkunanaw market, and re­peatedly put phone calls across to his brothers, pretending to be the kidnapper.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that his brothers, who fell for Samuel’s trick, reported the mat­ter to the police, and started negotiations to reduce the ransom.
Samuel reduced the ransom to N1.2 million, his brothers keenly went and deposited all that they were able to gather into the account given to them.
However the cat was let out of the bag when he sent his fiancée to withdraw the sum of N1 million from the account at a new generation bank located around Agbani road on August 29, 2013. She was arrested.
The lady, who gave her name as Oluchi Ogbu Faith and hails from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state, during interrogation revealed to the police how she was instructed by Samuel to supply her ac­count number so that his brothers could pay the ransom there.
He also instructed her to cash it as soon as she receives alert of the payment and bring it to him.
Thereafter Samuel was equally tracked down at his hide out and arrested. He confessed to the police that he kidnapped himself so that he could get money from his younger brothers, who he described as rich men, to beef up his business dealings.
He maintained that he regretted his actions and pleaded for forgiveness.
Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the Enugu State police command police public relations officer, PPRO, who confirmed the story in his press release said the police after a detailed investigation will charge Mr. Samuel Ani to court.
