POLICE SMASH KIDNAPPING GANG, KILL TWO IN ABA!

Policemen from the Aba Area Command have shot dead two kidnappers who are said to be members of the gang terrorizing residents of Aba, the commercial city of Abia state.
The gang is also responsible for the resurgence of kidnapping incidents in Aba and environs which includes the abduction of a popular businessman residing at Faulks road area of the city.
In a chat with journalists at his office, Area Commander of the police in Aba, Alhaji Rabiu Dayi, Â said his men has been trailing the gang for  a long time and got information that they operates from a mechanic workshop at Abayi, Aba.

“One of our policemen was at the mechanic workshop to repair his vehicle and suspected a movement. Even the mechanic is a member of the gang. We stormed the place and arrested seven suspects. We also discovered the cartridge with 39 rounds of live ammunition and they also took us to a forest where they hid their guns. These cars are what they used in conveying their victims. You can also remember when there is any kidnap incident in Aba, residents have been complaining of a golden coloured Camry car always used by kidnappers.
They have many operational vehicles which we are yet to recover; it includes a jeep, Golf car and L300 bus. We are still searching for the gang leader known as Okey, another one called Shemoo and other fleeing members of the gang.” Two cars; a Passat with Reg. No:  MHA 25 BA, and a Camry with Reg. No: SSM 491 AA as well as N285, 000 cash and 39 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the gang.

Dayi stated that the gang has been responsible for most kidnapping incidents around the South ” The gang operates in Imo, Enugu, Rivers, Anambra and Abia states where they kidnap people and take them to their hideout at the forest from where they collect ransom.”
He added that other members of the gang who are still at large engaged policemen in a gun battle on a visit to their hideout at Mgboko Eziama village in Obingwa council area of the state.
“When we stormed their hideout at Mgboko Eziama village, they started firing and even shattered our operational vehicle and fled. Some of our men sustained injuries.” Dayi called on the residents of the city to report suspect movements and anyone with bullet wounds to the police.
