FRIENDS fear Simon Cowell’s ex-lover Sinitta is heading for a breakdown following his baby news.

Daily Star Sunday has it that concerned pals say the 80s pop idol is “teetering dangerously close to the edge” since it was revealed the music mogul is expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman.

The 49-year-old is said to be distraught her former flame is starting a family – because she believed he would eventually settle down with her.

The meltdown was made public on Friday night when the So Macho singer posted ranting tweets to her 150,000 followers saying she had finally “snapped” and felt she was being silenced, leaving her no option but to take to the social network to have her say.

In emotional posts, she wrote: “I don’t want to hurt the people I have loved but I don’t ­always want to always be the one who gets hurt either. Today I snapped, enough is enough.

“This (Twitter) isn’t the best place ­practically as SO much to say. I’m going to set a few things straight even though I am afraid of the consequences.

“I need to pray on this but I know some how (sic) I need to do this. I’m sorry but it is important to me.”

Friends have since revealed their concerns for the mum-of-two.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star ­Sunday, one said: “This isn’t the way Sinitta saw it happening in her head. The news has knocked her completely and she hasn’t been in a good way since she found out.

“Simon always told her he didn’t want ­children. She didn’t think he would ever start a family and believed if he ever changed his mind, he would start a family with her.

“She is finding it hard to control her ­emotions and friends are worried about her, they think she is having a breakdown.”
