WIFE, 72, HELD ON SUSPICION OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

A woman aged 72 was arrested yesterday on suspicion of trying to stab her 79-year-old husband to death. Police found the man with wounds to his neck, hands and leg after they were called to the couple’shome. 

He was taken to hospital, but his wounds were not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery. Officers arrested his wife in the early hours after they were called to the house in Northam, Devon, and took her to a police station in nearby Barnstaple.

 A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “A 72-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man.”
