A woman was hospitalised with ‘life threatening’ injuries after she fell head first from the back of a London bus on Friday morning.
The 30-year-old passenger reportedly fell from the double-decker Routemaster bus on Prince of Wales Road in Kentish Town, north London, at 7.20am.
The vehicle is a new design of bus, introduced by Mayor Boris Johnson as a greener alternative to the other ones currently in operation.
Emergency services treated the unnamed woman at the scene for a severe head injury, before transferring her to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington for further treatment.

TfL’s director of buses, Mike Weston, said: ‘Our first concern is, of course, for the passenger and we can confirm the emergency services attended the scene. There will be a thorough investigation into this incident.’
The No. 24 bus is part of a new fleet of buses by Transport for London and Mayor Boris Johnson, which cost £354,000 each and runs on an electric battery.
The new fleet has been plagued by problems since their gradual introduction.
Three people were injured last month after a Routemaster bus crashed into stationary traffic after it had gone off its route, while they have also been criticised for having few opening windows on the top deck leading to sweltering temperatures. Metro reports.
