Andre Villas-Boas said his Tottenham side should be “ashamed” of themselves after their 6-0 humiliation at Manchester City .
Spurs slumped to their joint-worst Premier League defeat and Villas-Boas said the result was “embarrassing” for everyone at the club.
City went ahead after 14 seconds and could have reached double figures as they piled up the goals to move to fourth in the table.
A sombre Villas-Boas said: “We have to be ashamed of ourselves after this. It’s difficult to explain. Everything went wrong for us.
“I don’t need to point out individuals, but to lose 6-0 is extremely embarrassing for anyone involved in that.
“From being one of the best defences in the country to conceding six goals, it is very hard to find explanation.
“Our game plan and motivation was immediately affected by conceding after 14 seconds. Our heads were gone after the fourth goal.
“It’s the worst defeat for all of us involved in Tottenham because we all have high expectations.
“It’s a bad moment for everybody. We can only look into ourselves and make sure we can go forward.

“It is two defeats in a row. We are still close to teams who share our objective, everything can change again, so we can get a lift from three points.
“But we have to get back to work and focus on our mistakes.”
Tottenham have now failed to score in their last three Premier League games and face champions Manchester United next weekend.
Villas Boas, who spent £110million in the summer, admitted the lack of goals was a major concern and said: “We never had a proper chance to score.
“We have to look into it more in depth, not that we haven’t looked already.
“Sometimes it is because of the opponents, sometimes we don’t do enough. It’s a reality we have to face right now and we have to correct it.”
Sergio Aguero and Jesus Navas both netted twice, Sandro scored an own goal and Alvaro Negredo completed the rout with a stunning sixth.
City boss Mauel Pellegrini, whose team’s next two matches are against Southampton and Arsenal, said: “It’s not normal to win by six goals, against a team as strong as Tottenham, but we played really well and defended well'' A Daily Mirror report.
