Cracks in G7, Four Governors Set To Quit Group!

The G7 Governors are at the verge of a break-up as four members are set to quit the group to save their political career, a credible source who is a member of the rebel group in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, told pointblanknews.com.
Foreseeing deceit from the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC and a dangerous political fight ahead, the four Governors have now decided to either sink or swim with the PDP.
A source said Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State and Abdulfattah Ahmed of Kwara State have concluded plans to relinquish their membership of the G7 Governors and return back to the main PDP.
The four Governors were conspicuously missing at the retreat of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi led Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, held in Sokoto recently.
The decision of the four Governors considered as the arrowhead of the rebel PDP otherwise known as nPDP and the G7 has thrown spanners in the political calculations of the group and leaving Governors Amaechi, Wammako and Nyako in the cold.
A source familiar with the political calculations of the group disclosed that the G7 Governors that hitherto derived their powers from the support of former President Olusegun Obasanjo are currently at a quandary following the former President’s volte-face.
Former President Obasanjo, according to the source had told the G7  Governors to explore every possible means and reconcile with President Jonathan even if it requires apologizing to the President.
But some recalcitrant members of the G7 led my Governor Nyako, according to a source has insisted on going on with the fight, a situation which has not gone down well with other members of the group.
The four members of the G7 who are considering quitting are hinging their decision on their inability to remain relevant should they decide to quit the PDP and join the All Progressive Congress, APC.
They do not see any prospect of controlling or becoming the leaders of the APC in their states and frowns at the insistence of some of the G7 members to keep the heat on at the expense of their career, a source said.
Governor Aliyu of Niger State, according to a source is on the verge of losing the leadership of his state PDP and would not be welcomed in APC. Former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau who controls the APC in Kano state has severally blocked Kwankwaso’s moves to infiltrate the party. Lamido is fighting the battle of his political life with his two sons and himself under investigation for fraud of over N11 Billion.
While in Kwara State, the PDP is making some moves to sack the state party executive and install members loyal to Bamanga Tukur. The moves and political plots are a major concern of the four Governors who are scheming to remain relevant.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the decision of the quartet not to attend the NGF retreat in Sokoto was purely in line with their resolve to continue to seek for peace.
An Aide to one of the four Governors who confirmed the development told Pointblanknews.com “my boss and three other Governors want peace to rein, they have reached a level where it has become necessary to consider the counseling of the former President.”
According to the Aide who would not want to be named, “it would be foolhardy if we continue fighting, rejecting counseling from a leader and allowing others to rail road us into a political wilderness. So, nothing to be ashamed of, my boss will henceforth seek peace and three other members are in line with that.” A Pointblanknews.com report.
