A 35-year-old truck driver has been arrested by police officers from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Lagos State Police Command, southwest Nigeria for allegedly diverting goods valued at N80 million, which he later sold.
The suspect, Tunde Olajide, an indigene of Ofa Local Area of Kwara State, resides at 17, Ayetoro Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS gathered from the police at Lagos SARS that the driver  on 15 September loaded goods such as spare parts, motor shaft, oil filters and bearings at  Ojo Trade Fair Complex in Abule Osun for delivery in  Congo through Apapa Wharf.
It was learnt that the suspect was accompanied on the journey by a civilian escort, whom he persuaded to drop at Mile 2 under- bridge, while he drove the truck to Ilaje area in Ijora Olopa, Lagos.
On reaching Ijora Olopa, he was said to have contacted his accomplice, simply identified as Ola, who allegedly off loaded the goods and then sold them to a businessman called  Obinna, who owns a shop located at  GB3 Rabiatu Plaza in Ijora Olopa.
Having accomplished his alleged mission, the driver was alleged to have driven the empty truck to the wharf, where it was discovered a month later that there were no goods in the truck.
Following a petition to the Lagos State Police Commissioner, the police were ordered to investigate the matter and in the process they arrested Olajide on 15 October.
It was alleged that Olajide confessed to have diverted the N80 million goods.
Olajide has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a two-count charge of felony and stealing, while Obinna is still at large.
