Goals from Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto'o cancelled out Martin Skrtel's opener for Liverpool as the Blues closed within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
But Mourinho blasted Luis Suarez for two failed attempts to win a penalty – while Rodgers insisted Eto’o should have been sent off for a “wild” lunge at Jordan Henderson.
Suarez felt he was fouled by both Eto’o and John Terry in the second half at Stamford Bridge.
But Mourinho said: “Eto’o comes in and it looks like somebody shot Suarez in the back. For me that is a clear yellow card.
“He’s an amazing player but he tries too much to provoke these situations.
“He’s doing an acrobatic swimming pool jump to try and get the penalty because he’s so clever he knows he’s in the penalty area with the Liverpool supporters behind.
“He’s a very nice boy and Brendan has done a very good job with him because he’s changed. No doubt.
“But when you are losing, the nature comes out of the player. The wild nature, the cultural nature of the player. If a Chelsea player did that I’d tell them not to do it.”

Liverpool boss Rodgers laughed off the comment, claiming the only player guilty of anything “wild” was Eto’o for a nasty lunge at Henderson in the third minute.
He said: “Jose will defend his players. I’ll defend mine.
“Let’s talk about the first Eto’o incident when he should have been sent off. That was a wild shank where he’s come down his knee and shin and didn’t even get a yellow card. That’s the first wild challenge.
“The second one, Eto’o blocks Suarez. That could have been a penalty on another day as obstruction in the area.” Mourinho also took aim at the TV pundits who argued Liverpool should have had a penalty, accusing them of bias.
He said: “Lots of people on TV, but nobody a Chelsea man. Carragher, Liverpool. Thompson, Liverpool. Redknapp, Liverpool. We don’t have one!
“When I retire, 75 years old, I will go as a pundit to defend Chelsea on television.”
