The outspoken British journalist succeeded legendary anchor Larry King three years ago however his show, Piers Morgan Live, has had consistently poor ratings.
A CNN spokesperson told Sky News:
"CNN confirms that Piers Morgan Live is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined." It was recently revealed that Morgan was interviewed by police over phone-hacking allegations although CNN have insisted the news was not a factor in Morgan's dismissal. Morgan previously admitted his show had "taken a bath in the ratings" and that it had been a "painful period". "Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarising, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it," he told The New York Times. "I think I can credibly do news and the ratings reflect that, but it is not really the show that I set out to do.
