PIERS Morgan’s own TV talk show staff have been celebrating after he was given the boot.
We revealed yesterday how celebs around the world have mocked the telly host following his sacking from his evening slot on US network CNN. And reports from America revealed those who worked for the telly loudmouth have also been toasting his downfall. They are said to have grown sick of his “arrogant attitude” and “diva demands” during his three years in charge. A disgruntled insider said: “He was always such an asshole to people working for him. “The make-up girls suffered the worst. He was rude and belligerent.
“The general feeling is Morgan didn’t show any respect to anyone working under him, the people who were trying to make him look good.” The ex-Britain’s Got Talent judge has previously admitted being a tough boss during his time working on British television and newspapers. But it was said he made a string of bizarre demands on staff after landing the big-money deal in the US. He had a strict “no interviews during Arsenal games” rule and demanded Gunners matches be beamed onto a screen in his studio during filming. Channel boss Jeff Zucker, 48, also had to step in last year to calm staff concerns that Piers was using the show as a mouthpiece for his anti-gun campaign.
Morgan, 48, blamed the show’s ratings nosedive on his Britishness, but TV experts in the US suggested his personality may have prompted CNN’s decision. And radio host Rush Limbaugh, 63, reckoned viewers switched off because of Morgan’s droning voice. The 63-year-old said: “Some British accents are kind of seductive. This just sounded nasal. “Every time I listen to Morgan I want to clear my throat and blow my nose. My God, the guy needs a saliva drain in his mouth.” Morgan hit back by tweeting: “Sorry, don’t mind all the crap swirling around my CNN show ending, but abusing make-up artists? NEVER.” He insisted he had “unending gratitude” to his dressing room stylists, who one of his fans joked were the “hardest working” members of his team. dailystar.co.uk
