IBB CHARGED NIGERIAN STATE GOVERNORS TO PROVIDE THE PEOPLE WITH DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY, COMMENDS ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE!

Former Nigerian military Head of State, retired General Ibrahim Babangida on Saturday charged Nigerian State Governors to provide the people with evidence of democracy and good governance. He said this during the 70th birthday ceremony hosted by the Edo State Governor Adam Oshiomhole in honour of the APC South South heavy weight, Chief Tom Ikimi.
Babangida made this charge in Igueben, Edo State, in his capacity as the Chairman of the occasion.
He commended Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, for embarking on people-oriented developmental projects and charged other State Governors to emulate him.
He said that the efforts of Oshiomhole were '‘worth emulating by other governors in the country'’. He noted that the essence of governance was to impact on the lives of the people through people-oriented policies and projects that would foster development.
Babangida said that the development of infrastructure by the government did not only beautify the state, but also showed that government was committed in ensuring that the people enjoyed democratic dividends.
He was highly impressed with the red roofs style in most schools in Edo State as it showed government’s drive in providing conducive learning environment for pupils and students.
The occasion which attracted other political heavy weights, turned out looking like an all APC affair with the former Ghanaian President, Jerry Rawlings and former Nigerian military Head of State, Alhaji Abdusalam Abubakar in attendance.
