Popular BBC Presenter George Alagiah Diagnosed With Cancer, To Take Break From TV!

BBC newsreader George Alagiah has said he is hopeful for a ‘positive outcome’ after revealing he is suffering from bowel cancer.
The 58-year-old, who fronts the BBC News at Six as well as the BBC World News show GMT, will take a break from his usual presenting duties while he undergoes treatment..
“He is grateful for all the good wishes he has received thus far and is optimistic for a positive outcome,’ the BBC said in a statement.
‘George asks that he and his family are given the space and privacy they require whilst he recovers.
The corporation added: ‘Our thoughts are with him and his family and we send them our very best wishes during this time.
‘Until such time as George is well enough to return to work the BBC News at Six and GMT on BBC World News will be presented as usual by familiar faces from BBC News.’
Alagiah, who was born in Sri Lanka, originally joined BBC News in 1989 and was a foreign correspondent for many years before becoming the News at Six presenter in 2007 and GMT host in 2010. A metro.co.uk report.
