BREAKING NEWS: Riot In Kano As APC Appoints Former CBN Governor, Alhaji Sanus Lamido Sanusi, New Emir Of Kano!
Contrary to our earlier post, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has actually emerged as the new Emir of Kano. Sanusi, the grandson of the 11th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, was turbaned the Giwar Dan Majen Kano in 2013.
Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is believed to have succumbed to pressure that was brought to bear by chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who had converged on Kano since Friday.
The selection of the new emir was believed to have been concluded by the Kano Emirate Council early Sunday. The council was believed to have recommended the former CBN governor and the first son of the late Emir of Kano, Ciroman Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, who was considered the more popular choice.

Security forces have been mobilised for crowd dispersal. Police men stationed in strategic round-abouts. Patrol teams headed for flashpoint at Kofar Nassarawa.
Bonfires and mob actions in top gear around the ancient city of Kano. Town streets being hurriedly deserted by pedestrians and motorists. The Kano state government is calling for peace among the citizens of the state.
