Photos appearing to show a group of French police officers in blackface at a party have sparked outrage on social media. A group of officers in Kremlin-BicĂȘtre, in the southern suburbs of Paris, are reportedly being investigated over the photos by the General Inspectorate for National Police.
Several race organisations denounced the images. Georges Tin, president of the Council of Black Associations, said French police should fire the officers immediately if the investigation confirms the photos.
The party was a followup to the racism row that broke-out as a result of a person of Mixed-race winning the French beauty pageant show.
Twitter users compare xenophobic comments about French-Beninese pageant queen to similar reactions against Miss America.
