Cyclists took part in the annual World Naked Bike Ride in central London to protest against car culture and to raise awareness of cycling as an environmentally friendly option. A couple of weeks ago we reported that of Manchester and it is London's turn.
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an initiative that takes place in over 50 cities around the world. London tourists looked on in amazement as a large number of naked cyclists merged in central London having started from various starting points across the UK capital.
Enjoy what you see!

ReplyDeleteIsn't there a law about public nudity?
ReplyDeleteThis is the UK. Public nudity is not, in itself, illegal. If people complain they're offended & you don't cover up, you may be prosecuted, but only if their complaints are reasonable. If they choose to watch a well-advertised public event they can't reasonably complain that it is what it was advertised to be.
ReplyDeleteIn the early 2000s the government decided to tidy up the laws on sexual offences. A draft of the proposed new law was published, & there were howls of protest from all over the country. It would have restricted public nudity, & pretty much banned sex outdoors. Opinion polls showed that the proposed changes were very unpopular.
The government apologised, & removed the offending clauses.
