Real Madrid are set to lead a three-way tussle for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech. Cech’s future has been thrown into doubt after Thibaut Courtois returned to the Blues following a three-season loan with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, which could see the current number one deposed after a decade in between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.
According to dailyexpress.co.uk, former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen on landing the stopper although it is not known whether the move would be to increase competition with Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabeu or replace Real’s long-standing stopper. Jose Mourinho is said to be considering using Cech as leverage in negotiations for centre-back Raphael Varane, 20. The European champions could be joined in their attempts to sign Cech by Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.
Edinson Cavani could be used to entice Chelsea into a deal to take the £10million-rated Cech to the Parc des Princes. Mourinho, however, would have to offload one oversesas player before signing the Uruguayan in accordance with Premier League quotas. Source: www.metro.co.uk
