London Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found beheaded in north London. Emergency services were called to a property in Nightingale Road, Edmonton, just after 1pm today to reports of a man with a machete.
Armed officers responded and discovered the woman in a garden. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there is no suggestion that the killing had any terrorist motives.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

It has been widely reported that witnesses saw a man with a machete in the area at around lunch time. This was said to be a highly visible attack in broad daylight on a residential street.
