Ms Joy Williams
A British/Nigerian woman who die during a cheap butt surgery has been pictured for the first time – as her family say they ‘don’t know what went wrong,’ according to metro.co.uk

Joy Williams, 23, died after travelling to Bangkok, Thailand, to have £2,000 buttock augmentation surgery.

Speaking from his home in Lagos, Nigeria, Ms Williams’ older brother Anietie, 28, said the family had to find out details of the tragedy from reports.

‘We don’t really know what went wrong, we only know what is in reports in the media,’ he said.

Ms Williams, who was born in Lagos, moved to Thamesmead, United Kingdom with her mother Christie in 2007 and had been to Thailand twice before choosing to visit for the cut-price operation.

She initially visited the clinic on 14 October for the operation but was forced to return a few days later after her wounds became infected.

She was found dead on 23 October with a three inch-long stitched incision on her tailbone.

Thai officials say the operation was carried out past the clinic’s legal closing time of 7pm to ensure Ms Williams had not eaten anything beforehand.

Sompob Sansiri, 51, the doctor who carried out the procedure, was later arrested and accused of negligence after he was found to have been carrying out the surgery without a night-time licence.
