Former Chelsea manager, Di Matteo has been out of a job since his sacking from Chelsea in November 2012 - just months after guiding the Blues to a historic Champions League and FA Cup double.
He will face Chelsea his former side at home in the Champions League on November 25, haven been appointed Schalke's manager.
It has been a long time out of the spotlight for Di Matteo, who was reportedly still being paid his full £130,000 weekly wage at Chelsea up until June after failing to reach agreement on a settlement from the club following his sacking. That contractual dispute left him unwilling to take on a new challenge but now he certainly has one in Schalke, who are currently 11th in the Bundesliga.
