#PDP Chieftains In Abuja, Disagree With Imo PDP Party Leadership On Rochas Return

Major political stakeholders in Imo PDP were in the presidency a few days ago for a crucial meeting with high ranking PDP officials. Reports reaching us indicate that Governor Rochas Okorocha’s move to the PDP featured prominently on the agenda for discussions, according to a highly reliable source.

Some of Imo PDP leaders present were said to have strongly opposed the return of Rochas and strongly advocated that zoning of the governorship seat should be a huge consideration on who gets the party’s governorship ticket.

An unconfirmed report said a serving senator from the State who was in the meeting vehemently opposed Okorochas’ return. The issue was later laid to rest. But a source confirmed that Okorocha’s return to the PDP might just be a done deal if the body language of top PDP leaders in Abuja is anything to go by.

Meanwhile, online reports indicates that many governorship aspirants have purchased expression of interest forms signifying their intention to contest the Imo governorship contest, while more will be purchasing theirs in the coming weeks.

However in another development, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has denied plans to move over to the PDP as widely reported in national, online and local newspapers in the country.
