Seven cabinet ministers have resigned from their various positions in GEJ's government, according to the news agency of Nigeria.
Those who resigned are Ministers of Information, Labaran Maku; Trade and Industry, Samuel Ortom; Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike; and Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.
Others are Ministers of Labour, Emeka Wogu; Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu; and Minister of State for Niger Delta, Dairus Ishaku.
The ministers quit their posts to pursue their political ambitions, the government said.
The ministers, whose departure had long been expected, will contest gubernatorial elections in their respective states.
President Goodluck Jonathan confirmed the ministers' interest in piloting the affairs of their state, when he read out their name to State House correspondent during a brief interlude while the FEC meeting was going on.
