According to a report on the UK Daily Mail, a 41-year-old British man, Carl Singleton, was on Sunday arrested on suspicion of murdering his 22-year-old Kenyan girlfriend, Peris Ashley Agumbi Mumtah, whom he met on Facebook.
Miss Agumbi died in hospital of diabetic hypertension and respiratory failure days after making a report to police accusing Singleton of flushing her life-saving medicine down the toilet, reported the Daily Mail.
Singleton appeared in court on Monday. He was remanded in custody for seven days after police asked for time to file a murder charge. He made no plea.
Singleton met Miss Agumbi online through Facebook two years ago. Six months ago he flew out to Kenya on a tourist visa to spend time with her in person. 'He fell in love and went out there,' his mother said.
