Kanye West isn’t a massive fan of smiling in photos, so now we’ve got to the bottom of the ‘what is his problem?’ question. It involves 19th century paintings, of course.
The rapper divulged his aversion to flashing his pearly whites at The Daily Front Row’s fashion awards explaining it was those folk back in the 1800s that inspired him to keep his gob shut.
According to Mail Online, it was rifling through a Parisian market that sparked Kanye’s non-grinning trait.
He said: ‘Back when I was working on Yeezus, I saw this book from the 1800s and it was velvet-covered with brass and everything.
‘I looked at all these people’s photos and they look so real and their outfits were incredible and they weren’t smiling and people, you know the paparazzi, always come up to me, “Why you not smiling?” and I think, not smiling makes me smile.
‘When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling ’cause it just wouldn’t look as cool.’
Is it weird that that kind of makes sense?
However, at the same event at which he explained his non-smiling tendencies he was spotted smiling pictured above.
