South Sudan Mass Abduction Of 89 Boys: Armed Men Rip Boys Out Of Homes, Schools

South Sudan has lost at least 89 boys to a mass abduction when armed men went house to house and abducted any boy that looked 12 or older. This is considered a recruitment strategy for army of fighters, which is devastating families and terrorizing the community of people who have already fled their homes due to the fighting on the streets

According to The Los Angeles Times on Feb. 21, armed soldiers surrounded the village, which is a displacement camp for families who fled the areas where fierce fighting was taking place. As one group of soldiers stood with guns around the outside of the camp, another group went house to house ripping these boys away from their families. They took boys as young as 13-years-old.

According to the BBC News, approximately 1.5 million people have been displaced by the fighting and 2.5 million are facing severe food shortages. "South Sudan is the world's newest state, gaining independence from Sudan in 2011."

UNICEF did not say what group abducted the boys, but they did say that these boys were getting ready for their school exams at the time they were ripped out of this camp. They do believe these boys will now be trained to fight in this war......Read More @ Examiner
