Horror In Bama; Boko Haram Members Killed Own Wives To Stop Them From Remarrying, As Military Discovers Bodies In Wells In Bama

According the account of some of the Internally Displaced Persons who fled to Maiduguri after the town of Bama was recaptured from Boko Haram members last week, Boko Haram militants killed their own wives before escaping after they got information that the Nigerian troops were advancing to recapture Bama, because they didn't want the women to remarry.

Recounting her experience, one of the IDP, Sharifatu Bakura 39, said, the sect members said they would rather kill their wives than let them remarry. “The terrorists said they will not allow their wives to be married to infidels,” she said The sect members reportedly shot their wives dead.

In a related development, residents of Bama have witnessed what they called ''unbelievable scene'' dubbed “Bama wells of horror,” with the military discovering hundreds of dead bodies in wells after Boko Haram was flushed  out of Bama in Borno State. Bodies were also found on the bridge across Bama River. The discovery of bodies in the well and bridge, according to military sources, has exposed the atrocities perpetrated by terrorists, when they held sway in the town and while escaping, on the heels of soldiers’ takeover.

Residents told soldiers that as the military pushed towards the town, in the liberation mission, terrorists embarked on killing spree, slaughtering people as they escaped. Meanwhile, house-to-house searches continue in Bama, as the military seeks to rid the town of all terrorists. In the search, people are interrogated, to ascertain their true identities.

Military medical teams and emergency workers are now attending to survivors and evacuating internally displaced persons, sources said.
