The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Imo State Governorship election inconclusive. According to the result as announced in the Imo state capital Owerri yesterday by INEC, the APC candidate scored 385,671, while the PDP candidate had 306,142.
The Imo state INEC returning officer Prof. Ibidapo Obe, gave reason why the election was declared inconclusive. In his statement, he said the election was inconclusive because of the number of canceled votes which stood at 144,715, outnumbering the difference between the two top candidates which was 79,529. Prof.
Obe concluded that a new date will soon be announced when elections will be conducted in the different Local Government Areas where their votes were cancelled.
