Nun, 86, Gang-raped And Murdered By Robbers In South Africa

South Africa seems to be in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. Crimes such as murder, rape, burglary are daily bread and in common occurrence in almost every city of the Mandela country.

According to Daily News, an 86-year-old nun has been gang-raped and murdered in her own bedroom. Sister Gertrud Tiefenbacher’s body was found by a fellow sister at the Sacred Heart Home in Ixopo, ioL.co.za reports.

The nun, an Austrian immigrant, had been gagged and bound with a cord from an electric typewriter.  The incident has sparked a police have launched a manhunt for the gang who broke into the convent at the weekend.

According to one Sister Gerald, her colleague at the mission, the octogenarian had dedicated her life to uplifting the community. She was especially fond of her work with impoverished children. “She had a very kind heart and was loved by everyone.”

A very sad and horrific act against such a selfless and kindhearted individual. May her soul rest in peace of the Lord.
