Former Liverpool and Chelsea manager, Rafael Benitez has been confirmed as Real Madrid new boss. Rafa who was born in Madrid and started his career in Real before moving-on was in tears on Wednesday as he fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition taking over Real Madrid.
The current Napoli boss who is a hero at Liverpool football club gave one of the shortest opening speeches of any coach taking over the club in the last 15 years. ‘It’s emotional to come home,’ he said. ‘I don’t know what to say. I want to make sure we win things and the team plays well.’
It is worthy of note that Rafa started his coaching career at Real as a youth team manager having reached C team level as a player. He was flanked by his wife Montse as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez presented him to the media and directors of the club this afternoon.
