Former Rivers State Gov. Rotimi Amaechi Vandalized Rivers State Government House. Wike Says It May Take Three Months For Him To Operate From The Facility

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike yesterday stated that with the level of the looting of furniture, facilities and cars in Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt by the immediate past Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, it may take three months before he starts operating from the Government House.

Gov. Wike said this during the post inauguration thanksgiving service held yesterday in PH. Continuing, Gov. Nyesom Wike said ''an inspection of the Government House, Port Harcourt revealed that all the bullet proof doors, furniture cars, crested carpets, curtains and windows were stolen by the former administration. He said: “ As I speak with you, everything has been vandalised. I will not enter the Government House in the next two or three months.

"There is no vehicle in Government House, not even one. Yet the former governor talks about corruption". He, however, said that the ugly situation left behind by the former Governor will not stop his administration from developing Rivers State. Wike said he will not disappoint the PDP and the people of the state.

In his remark, Senate President David Mark noted that PDP will only experience opposition for four years as most of the achievements of the party would be glaring to Nigerians within this period. He said Rivers State is now the cornerstone of the PDP nationwide, adding that Governor Wike should rise to the occasion and deliver democracy dividends in line with expectations of the people who voted him.

The post inauguration thanksgiving service reception was attended by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Senators-elect from the South-South and South-East, Acting National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus and the NWC of the PDP.
