On Friday evening a private plane crashed in Hampshire, killing three members of Osama Bin Laden’s family. The notorious terrorist’s stepmother Rajaa Hashim, half-sister Sana and her husband Zuhair Hashim were all on board the plane which burst into flames after plummeting into dozens of cars.
But a pilot who frequently uses the same landing strip in Blackbushe Airport reckons the crash just doesn’t add up. Simon Moores said a plane of that calibre (a Embraer Phenom 300 worth £7 million) would be equipped with top of the range safety functions which should have worked to prevent the crash.
He explained that the aeroplane – which travelled to the UK from Milan – only needs around 800 metres to land, but overshot the Blackbushe airstrip measuring 1,300 metres. Moores said: ‘Why, if the pilot thought his angle was completely wrong – which is what happened in this case – didn’t he power up the engines to simply go round and try again?’
The pilot, from Jordan, also lost his life when the plane went down. A Saudi ambassador appeared to confirm the bin Laden family’s identity in a statement released yesterday. It read: ‘His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf al Saud has paid his condolences to the family and relatives of Mohammed bin Laden at Blackbushe Airport in Britain for the great loss they have suffered.’ Source; metro.co.uk
