Family Of The Dead Kenyan Vice President Requested Permission To Sacrifice Ram In A UK Hospital Ward To Save Their His Soul!
The family of Kenya’s deceased vice president, Michael Kijana Wamalwa, asked London based UK hospital where he died, while he was being treated for a major respiratory infection for permission so they could sacrifice a ram in the hospital ward for soul. Wamalwa passed away in 2003 at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London.
His family have travelled to the UK in order to complete a ceremony which includes the sacrifice of a ram at the place where he died. Family spokesperson Geoffrey Matumbai explained that it is important to “show respect to the dead by following our traditions,” to ensure the “spirit of the late can be at peace”.
Part of a religious event called ‘Khulotia’, the ceremony sees a ram killed in order to appease spirits – allowing them to carry Wamalwa’s soul home. “This will be a special anniversary since it will be marked by an important cultural event called ‘Khulotia’, whose process has already been initiated,” Matumbai said.
Family members have flown into the UK from Kenya, the US, Geneva and Denmark. However, much to their disappointment, the sacrifice of the ram has not been permitted. Explained in a statement, the Royal Free Hospital stated that its chaplaincy would “endeavour to facilitate specific requests” but that their “infection control policy prohibits anyone from bringing animals on to trust grounds, with the exception of guide dogs and therapy pets.” I salute viralthread.com.
