FIFA Presidency: Fashanu Endorses Kalu

Ahead of the February 2016 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) elections, soccer stakeholders have commenced mobilisation for sports-loving former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu to emerge as the next FIFA President.

Sports Ambassador and Founder, Football Academy, Mr. John Fashanu on Friday added his voice to the project by promising his unflinching support.

It will be recalled that award-winning sports journalist and former chief media officer to Super Eagles, Mr. Idah Peterside, had on Thursday while featuring on a programme on Cable TV SuperSport 4 tagged “Soccer Star” advocated the Forbes-listed billionaire Kalu for the position .

Speaking under condition of anonymity, a source close to Fashanu said, the footballer of international repute had been reaching out to people silently and seeking their support for Kalu to emerge as the next FIFA President, adding that Fashanu has been sending messages to his colleagues in the football world globally to drum support for the African Pillar of Sports.

Efforts to reach Kalu’s aide, Kunle Oyewumi, proved abortive as his phones were switched off and he did not respond to text messages. Source; sunnewsonline.com
