When The Head Of The Anti-Corruption Agency Becomes Corrupt Himself! Lamorde To Face Senate Probe Panel Today!

It has been in the news lately that the boss of the Nigerian anti-corruption agency is under investigation by the country's upper house chamber aka Senate. Read Here

There is no globally accepted definition of corruption. In philosophical, theological, or moral discussions, corruption is the abuse of bestowed power or position to acquire a personal benefit. Corruption may include many activities including bribery and embezzlement. Government, or 'political', corruption occurs when an office-holder or other governmental employee acts in an official capacity for personal gain. This is exactly what Nigeria need to kill or it will kill Nigeria.

According to news report, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, said on Tuesday that the upper chamber would go ahead with the planned probe of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, scheduled for today (Wednesday).

Anyanwu, a Peoples Democratic Party member representing Imo East Senatorial District, who stated this in Abuja while speaking with journalists, explained that he was not bound by the advice of his party’s caucus in the Senate because “I take directives only from the Senate leadership.”

He said, “ As the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, I am answerable to the Senate in the first instance. This committee attends to every petition that comes from the public and the invitation to the EFCC boss is one of those petitions and the petitioner is going to appear before the committee.

On his own part the EFCC boss has recently alleged that he is being witch hunted by the senate for daring to summoning the wife of the senate president to appear before it on money laundering allegations. This was while the ruling part was in loggerhead with the leadership of the national assembly following the election of Senators Saraki/Ekeremadu and Dogara/Yusuf Lasun as President/Deputy president and Speaker/Deputy speaker against their party's preferred candidates.

At a time, the speculation was that, it was the APC national leadership headed by Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu that was using EFCC to scandalize the Sarakis and bring Dr Bukola and his family into bag-light and scrutiny of the Nigerian public, as a way of forcing the Senate President to resign his position and make way for the Tinubu/party's own preferred candidate.

We are all watching and waiting to witnessing one of the most exciting corruption probes in the history of Nigeria, while hopping that the probe whitepaper will not be a product of forgery like the senate standing rules as alleged recently.
