Moment US Police Officers Shoot Dead Disabled Man A Wheelchair Dead

Police officers shot dead a disabled man thought to have been armed with a gun. Officers from the Wilmington Police Department were called to the scene in Delaware after reports of an armed man having shot himself. The policemen with raised weapons repeatedly warned the disabled man, Jeremy McDole, 28,  to put down his gun. When he failed to comply and allegedly pulled out the gun, the officers open fire.

Sean Owens, who was at the scene, told NBC10: ‘He pulled out his gun. He was trying to shoot himself up there. ‘I think he may have shot himself once or twice, but he shot the other shots in the air.’ Wilmington Police Chief Bobby Cummings has watched the footage an believes the officers acted professionally and that a .38 caliber handgun was recovered from the scene. Cummings said: ‘The officers perceived what was a threat and they responded and they engaged.’

The four police officers involved have been put on leave as an official investigation takes place. McDole’s family have criticised the use of force with his sister saying: ‘Why couldn’t you tase this man out of his wheelchair. ‘Why couldn’t you use rubber bullets to get him out of the wheelchair?’
