47 Year Old Massachusetts Woman Gives Birth, Didn't Realize She Was Pregnant Until An Hour Before Giving Birth

A 47-year-old woman found out she was pregnant when she went into labour. Judy Brown, of Massachusetts, US, was taken to hospital complaining about severe abdominal pain.

 

It was the last diagnosis she expected when she went to the hospital with abdominal pain: You're having a baby. Brown and her husband, Jason, have been married 22 years and their approach to children has always been: "If it happens, it happens." On Wednesday, it happened when Carolyn Rose, a healthy 8-pound baby, was born.

The birth came as a complete surprise to the couple, who didn’t know they were expecting. The 47-year-old first-time mom said she had had some things going on with her body, but thought she was moving into the next phase of life.

She went to Beverly Hospital suffering severe abdominal pain. "(The doctors said,) 'It's good news there's no blockage, you are pregnant and you are going to have her now!'" she said. Brown attributed a tummy bulge to her age. "I felt like I was turning into my mother," she said.
