JUST IN! Buhari Sacks EFCC Chair, Appoints Another Ibrahim

News making rounds has it that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, has been sacked and replaced with another northerner in the name of Ibrahim Magu.

Until his appointment, Mr Ibrahim Magu was a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC. Mago has been involved in some high profile investigations during his time. He led investigations into the affairs of some officials including former Delta Governor James Ibori and current Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Magu is a recipient of USG and London Metropolitan Police institute training.

He reportedly worked with Ribadu to jail his brother-in-law and former Bank of the North chief, Shettima Bulama. Bulama was later pardoned by former President Goodluck Jonathan. He is a member of the investigative committee convened by National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the procurement of arms in the Armed Forces from 2007 till now. He is a Chief Superintendent of Police.

Lamorde on his part seems to be a pain in the ass, who just woke up from sleep following the coming of Muhammadu Buhari and his body language. Lamorde was appointed EFCC chairman in 2011 by former president Goodluck Jonathan.

His tenure has recently seen some controversial and what looks like selective witch-hunting/prosecution and ostensibly to harass and undermine mainly members of the opposition party, while corrupt members of the ruling party are being laid-off the hook every-now-and-then. You would also recall, there was a petition not too long ago accusing Lamorde of keeping loots recovered from politicians and sharing forfeited luxury houses to his family and friends.
