Boob jobs, nose jobs and facelifts all could be trending for ladies and celebrities, but have you seen this one before 'Six Pack Op'?
I can definitely say I have seen it. A man from Leeds United Kingdom has travelled across Europe to undergo surgery to give him a six-pack for life. Ludicrous as it sounds, it’s all true. Lee Coupland, 31, who runs a joinery business, underwent ‘abdominal etching’ in order to give himself the body he desires.
Quantifying his move, Lee said: “I think more and more people will think it’s an option for them and it will become as common as boob jobs and nose jobs for women.”
Frivolous cosmetic surgeries like this have historically been the domain of women, but now it seems that men are trying to get in on the act. The hospital Lee visited in Istanbul has seen seven British men in the last six months. This is becoming very eye-opening.
Unlike simple liposuction, this procedure is not just a quick fix for fat blokes. You have to be in good shape to have the procedure and men with more than two centimetres of fat are not normally eligible. Lee went under the knife in October and set the dad-of-two back £3,50
He began by having the little fat he had melted down by ultrasound and strategically drained to emphasise his muscles. Lee said: “In that procedure the surgeon got me to tense up and actually feel where my grooves are so they could draw on my natural lines.
“The second part of the procedure is laser lipo which is where they create a thick scar line in the groove I can actually feel a hard line where the shape of the abdominals are.” Clearly a man obsessed with his body image, Lee was convinced that this procedure was going to make his life better. Once you compare it with a woman’s beauty regimen, says Lee, it’s not really a big deal.
“One way of looking at is for a woman when she gets dressed to go out she can put her fake hair in, she’s got her make up to put on, chicken fillets to put in, there’s lots of enhancements a woman can use
“A man can only really get dressed and do his hair.” Surgery was just the first step for Lee however. Following the procedure Lee had to wear a corset while his body recovered from the surgery.
He explains: “I wore the corset for first four to six weeks, four weeks permanently, only taking it off to wash. I was living and sleeping in it. “It was quite uncomfortable to get used to as you can imagine. A bit undignified. Even though it was black it looked like a bay watch suit – it wasn’t very flattering.”
Lee’s desire to get this lifelong six pack stems from his obsession with gym and fitness. A keen rugby player from an early age, Lee has always been a fitness freak. So much so in fact, that his gym obsession led to him splitting up with his previous partner. Mad as that sounds, Lee is eager not to make the same mistakes again with new partner Melanie.
“She thought I was crazy at the time and she was worried about me having the operation and the aftermath of it,” said Lee. “But she’s been very supportive of it and she loves the results.”
“Those thinking of doing this need to make sure this is something that you’re willing to do and maintain and it’s not as a remedial measure it’s an enhancement. “It’s not going to make you thin overnight and if you don’t keep it up you’re going to go back.”
So it’s not a quick fix to get thin, it’s a way to spend more time with his family. While I applaud his intent, I’m still not convinced that these types of surgeries are good for us. Going to extreme lengths to get the perfect body should not be encouraged. A viralthread report.
