Senators Mao Ohuabunwa, Godswill Akpabio, Sekibo, All Sacked By Court of Appeal

The Senate Minority Leader for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godswill Akpabio, was sacked yesterday by the Court of Appeal in Abuja . Mr. Akpabio is a Senator representing Akwa Ibom State, and is the former two term governor of that State

The Court of Appeal in its ruling said their judgement was based on the violations of the Electoral Act during the senatorial election between Mr. Akpabio and the APC candidate Inibehe Okori. The court ordered a rerun election within 90 days.

In a related development, the Court of Appeal in Abuja also nullified the election of Senator George Sekibo representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the Senate. The court also nullified the election of two Rivers state House of Representatives members. They are Kingsley Chindah of Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, and Blessing Nsiegbe of Port Harcourt 2 Federal Constituency.
