Obafemi Martins Join The Big Money Move To China, To Earn $6.6 Million A Year At Shanghai Greenland Shenhua

Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins, has finalized his big money move from Seattle Sounders U.S.A to Shanghai Greenland Shenhua China. Report out there has it that Martin will earn $6.6 million per year after tax at his new chinese club. Martins was on $2 million a year after tax at Major League Soccer playing for Seattle Sounders.

 According to Steven Goff of the Washington Post, the Nigerian who scored 40 goals and 23 assists in three seasons with the Sounders will earn a mouth-watering $6.6million annually more than three times what he earned while at Seattle Sounders.

Martins has already joined his new club, which will open the Super League season on the 5th of March. Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins (born 28 October 1984) is known for his speed on the ball. After leaving Nigeria for Italy at age 16, he has since played for a number of European clubs. He began his senior career in 2002 at the Italian Serie A Club Inter Milan, before moving to the English Premier League club Newcastle United  2006, and then the German Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg in 2009. Having joined Russian League side Rubin Kazan in July 2010, they from where they loaned him to Birmingham City FC in Jan. 2011, wikipedia.org reports.

In club football, Martins has won the Italian Serie A title, the Italian Cup (twice), and the Super Cup, all with Inter. With Birmingham he scored the winning goal in the 2011 League Cup Final.
