US Ambassador To Nigeria Receives #BringBackOurGirls Group As Aso Rock Blocked Access To Presidency!

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, coordinator of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, has described the prevention of the group from accessing the presidential villa as a reminder of the‎ military era, thecable.ng reports. 

Addressing journalists shortly after the police stopped the protesters, Ezekwesili said the presidency had been notified of its procession to the villa gate, where the citizen movement was to deliver a message to the government.

She expressed surprise that the group was stopped, saying BBOG would deliver its message‎ on the road notwithstanding the barricade. The campaigners held a commemorative session on the busy secretariat road, with no government representative to receive them.

Meanwhile, Unite States Ambassador, James Entwistle met with the #BringBackOurGirls ‪group led by former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, in Abuja today, April 14. The Ambassador reaffirmed U.S. advisory support and assistance to the Nigerian government in locating and bringing home the#Chibok  ‪and all those who have been kidnapped by Boko Haram. 

The Department of State released this statement on the second anniversary of the Chibok girls' kidnapping: 

"Supporting the Safe Return of Those Kidnapped and Abused by Boko Haram,"

"As we approach the second anniversary of the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian girls from their school in Chibok, the United States again calls for the immediate release, without preconditions, of all hostages held by Boko Haram.  The kidnapping of these young women, along with the kidnappings of countless others by Boko Haram, epitomizes this terrorist group’s depravity.''

''The United States continues to assist the Nigerian government’s efforts to locate and bring home all those who have been kidnapped by Boko Haram with intelligence and advisory support.  The United States is also delivering over $240 million in development and humanitarian assistance across the Lake Chad Basin region to provide conflict-affected populations and refugees with transitional assistance, psycho-social services, health programs, and emergency education for children displaced by violence"
